By nature, humans are not parasites .. No. We do not live off of a host. Some people will say that we could be considerred parasites to the earth, but the earth in and of itself is not an organism, and to say that we are parasites to the earth would be like saying that the earth is a parasite to space.
We are animals. That is true, of course. We are very uniques, advanced,conscious animals.
Essentailly we are conscious animals with free-will. having free-will does of course mean that any human who wants to could in fact live like a parasite if they choose,.. and many do, unfortunatly.
Sounds like a homework question to me. But, I will give my opinion anyway. We are NOT at the top of the food chain, and we ARE dependent on many things to remain living, so I guess we could be considered parasitic.

I've always thought of it like this, imagine you were to look down on earth from the sky, like when your in an airplane, and see the cities and stuff, its looks like....microorganisms that took over the land :-D. I'd have to say parasitic, we feed off of the land and really give nothing back, I don't see anything thats really benifits the earth with us being here.
