By OTC do you mean forms of birth control that you don't need a prescription for or the ones that you need a prescription for? The only OTC ones I know of that you DON'T need a prescription for are ones like condoms and spermicides. And yes those are safe. The newest OTC birth control is that morning after pill and I would say no to it being safe. There is a chance of hemorrhaging with it. The ones that you need a prescription for that alter how many cycles your body has each year I would avoid like the plague! There is a reason our bodies go through a menstrual cycle every month and we shouldn't mess with that. The other ones do have an increased risk of blood clots that can cause heart attack and stroke, but contrary to popular media coverage these days this risk is still EXTREMELY low as long as the person taking the pill avoids things like smoking or drinking.
