Both!!! Dogs are wonderful companians, they will love you unconditionally. Cats are very independent, they will only 'love' you when they want to, but they are also really easy to take care of!! I taught my cats to only use the potty outside, so I don't even have to worry about a litter box!!!!
Cats are easier to care for, and there are types that are as cuddly and friendly as dogs. Yet, dogs are more active and can be more rewarding after you train them... I like both :) I have 2 of each.
