my maids husband told me last night she was going to be late for work cause she was going to miss the last bus out of the casino 10:15pm has to be to work at 9:00am.. then she calls me at 9:30 this morning tells me she's gonna be late...what would you do?
Is this the first time a situation like this has happened, or is it a reoccuring one? If it's the first time - forgive, but don't let it continue, and stand your ground and say that.
If you knew ahead of time that she was going to be late then why is it a problem? I mean if she is unreliable and this happens alot I could understand, but at least she had the respect to make sure you knew the night before even if she had her husband call you. I would cut her some slack.
Obviously she thinks her gambling is more important that her job. Fire her. Have you noticed anything missing? Chances are, if she has a gambling problem, she is looking for ways to supplement her addiction. You had better take inventory.
