Question:
How can I tell if my dog is pregnant?
I have a Dalmation who is deaf. About two weeks ago I saw that she had "dog boobies", but she had just went into her first heat, I could tell because about a week or so before she got the boobies, she was bleeding from her vulva. She had never been outside of the yard before, save for when I would take her walking. She escaped and was gone for about a week. We just found her today and brought her home. Now I've noticed that her "dog boobies" are bigger, but she has lost a lot of weight since she has been gone, so she has no tummy. I was wondering, could she be pregnant or just still in heat?

Most female dogs do not get enlarged tummies till the 4th or 5th week of pregnancy.

whn you have a litter of pups running about - you will know for sure.

the vet is a must but being the grandmother to many pups.lol. i can say the dogs usually don't get milk unless they are pregnant and the bloody discharge is definitely because she was in heat so even though you need to take her to a vet i will bet with "boobies" you have puppies.

The dog will be more inactive and tend to lay down alot, and feel her stomach lightly and see if there is extra layers of fat.
were you wearing a condom?

She may very well be pregnant because the dalmation breed is what is called a barrel chested dog. These breeds hide their pregnancies in their vast abdominal cavities until they are advanced in their gestation. We had a dalmation and she didn't show in her pregnancy until just a couple weeks before she gave birth. She had 11 puppies and was never that big. You should take your dog to the vet and have either a blood test or an xray to confirm or deny the pregnancy.
