If VLC has compatibility with MP3's, right click and target VLC as the 'Preferred Open With' program. Or, open VLC, then click; File>Open>'Your MP3 Path here'. If that doesn't work, there are plenty of other MP3 players for you to download. I.e; Amarok (for Linux based operating systems) and Winamp. Limewire also plays your MP3's, I'm sure Frostwire does as well.
