Molarity is equal to the number of moles of a solute per liter of solution.

Let's pretend you have 24 g of carbon dissolved in 250 mL of water.

Since one mole of carbon is around 12g, you have 2 moles of carbon. In addition 250mL is equivalent to 0.25 liters. (250mL/1000mL)

Consequently you have 2 moles of carbon/0.25 L which is equal to 4M.

whats molarity

Molarity is very simple. It is just the number of moles of solvent per liter of solution. So that means that for something that is 2M, there are two moles of the substance per liter of the solution.
