I have a 1990 3.0L stickshift Mitsubishi Montero with 147,000 mi on it. I have a leaking head gasket. How much will it cost to have the gasket replaced if i put it in a shop? I found this stuf that says if i drain the radiator and put this stuff in, the stuff i put in the radiator will fill in the leak in the head gasket. Will this help or should I have it fixed by a professional?
Before I put some "stuff" in the radiator, I'd take my car to a certified mechanic and let them tell me what is wrong, get a quote on a repair job, then make a decision.

Mechanics do not come in cans or bottles! Heavy white smoke could be antifreeze burning due to a leaking head gasket. The smoke should have a very sweet smell to it if it is antifreeze. blown head gaskets can be caused by overheating the engine also causing the head itself to warp and possibly crack. Have a mechanic check it and get a quote!!!!
