So in the past I have seen a lot of parties flop because of the people they invited. I have a very diverse number of friends, and each one has their differences, and I usually hang out with certain people at certain times. My birthday is on the 7th, and I really really would like to help throw my party, as I want most of my friends there, but im not sure most of them will get along or be comfortable with eachother, what should I do? I am 21 now, so i figured alcohol would loosen things up a bit. I want people as comfortable as possible, and just have a good night all together. What else should I do to keep things going good?
I have a fairly random group of friends and have a bunch of them over quite often. My house is small though, so it ends up being a bunch of people crammed in my living room, and the proximity and group activity seems to work really well and people you didn't think would have a lot in common have some decent conversations, or we play something like things in a box (its a game with a card that says something like, things you wouldn't say to your grandmother, everyone writes something down and then you guess who said what).
have an array of different music on that each group likes- just keep it in a random cycle so not all types played in a row. have just a few less seats than people to keep people moving around. have different areas set up for foods, drinks, etc so everyone keeps moving. play some type of game that can get people interacting with each other- even setting up a fun video game like Guitar Hero or any Wii games to keep people entertained- maybe even offer up a 1st prize to get people interested in playing. one game you can do is give people a name of a celebrity taped on their back- then they have to go around and ask questions about themselves to people to find out who they are. or get a big cheesy hat of some kind (the bigger the better) and have a "special word" for the evening like DRUNK or whatever. Every time someone gets caught saying the word they have to wear the hat, then you pass it on to the next person who says the word- it gets really funny especially if it's a embarrassing thing they have to wear (we did it with a 5 lb penis necklace! it was so heavy!) have other games available for everyone like darts or some drinking games
