Oh and btw, it shouldn't matter what other people think. If it makes your child happy then they should be able to play with it. I mean is it weird for a little girl to play with cars? I don't think so. I played with cars when I was little. I grew up to be normal.
And another thing, men don't neccisarily have to be "the provider" and women don't necissarily have to be the "nurturer" I know lots of families where the father is the more nurturing and the mother is more of the provider. In a few of them the man actually stays home and takes care of the household stuff and the kids and the woman has the job and brings in the money. I think people with the attitude that men have to be "manly" and women have to be feminine is one of the reasons there are so many divorces. Our society has these unwritten rules of manliness and feminism, and it makes people think they have to be a certain way. I mean it is hot when a guy is secure enough with his manhood to watch a chick-flick or to be able to take care of his children, cook, and clean.
Yes! Playing with dolls helps them learn to communicate. It also helps them learn to take care of others. Plus if it makes them happy and its not physically dangerous to them or anyone else then there should be no problem with them playing with it whether it is dolls, trucks, dinosaurs, or whatever else. A child needs to have room to express themselves and make some choices for themselves. Just because a boy plays with dolls it doesn't mean he is going to be gay. I remember when I was little boys would come to my house and go straight to my dollhouse! They were still normal boys, and did the things boys do, it was just something different for them.
It's not illegal or anything, but you will get MAJOR critisism,if you're young it might coome back and bite you when you're older, and maybe even labeled "gay".
Yes it is, except they're not called dolls. Boys play with "action figures". Boys have been playing with dolls, "oops" I mean action figures for years. Ever heard of G.I. Joe with kung fu grip? No? How about the Six Million Dollar man? LOL!!!
No. There is a difference between dolls and 'action figures', lol. So they actually do play with certain types of 'dolls', but not in a nurturing way. They generally are discouraged from playing with girl's dolls.
If they are G.I. Joes, action figures, Raggedy Andy, or the "My Buddy" type of dolls, it's generally accepted. People in American culture do not often give their male children baby dolls or fashion dolls because of traditional gender roles. Girls are groomed to be the nurturers and boys to be the providers. Also, seriously, very few little boys want to play with baby dolls or fashion dolls. I'm not going to argue about whether or not it's right or wrong, but that's the way our culture is. Honestly, if my son wanted a doll I would probably give him one of the "Buddy" dolls rather than a baby doll or a Barbie.
Apparently not. I think it's sad.
Americans are afraid of "teh gay". They actually believe, seeing, or playing with incorrect gender toys will make their little boys, "unmanly", and thus, gay. This country is so sick and uneducated...I'm baffled.
Its the psychology of gender.
It just isn't acceptable.
Boys play with boy toys like fake grills or lawn mowers and girls get dolls and fake kitchen sets.
Parents do this to them to ensure they're aware with their sexual identity.
I don't like it though. :[
