It depends on how responsible you are. If you don't buy it, make sure you don't do anything random with it; say: throwing it like a frisbee, lighting it on fire for fun, smash it with a hammer, or throw it out your window. If you think you may do any of these then you should buy an extended warranty.

like the guy before me it really depends on the brand...if you bought a ol' beat-down piece of trash. its not worth it but if you bought a Macbook then yes it is really worth it
Yes. Extended warranties are worth it. Most will cover things even the company warranty won't. Just look into it.

depends on which brand

Your laptop should automatically come with a manufacturer's warranty free of charge. I would shy away from an extended warranty because usually it is a waste of money; however, it depends on what type of coverage the warranty includes and how important you feel it would be to you. Ask the sales people details about what is included in an extended warranty and what is not so you can decide the value.

It mainly depends on how accident-prone you are, and where you're gonna be going with it. If you're gonna be using it on a construction site, then obviously go for it. But if it's mainly at home, then don't get it. But as others have said, laptops are still fragile, and it could save you a ton of money in the event of an accident.
Most Definately, laprops are still fragile and you never know when something might happen just try to get the most inexpensive warranty.

extended warranties are a sham.

What does the warranty cover? And after taxes, etc. do you still have the money for it?

Assuming the warranty is decent, i would say go for it.
I doubt it. What does it cover?

If you thinks that you might mess it up

I would say it depends on how much you pay for the computer.
