It depends on how responsible you are. If you don't buy it, make sure you don't do anything random with it; say: throwing it like a frisbee, lighting it on fire for fun, smash it with a hammer, or throw it out your window. If you think you may do any of these then you should buy an extended warranty.
like the guy before me it really depends on the brand...if you bought a ol' beat-down piece of trash. its not worth it but if you bought a Macbook then yes it is really worth it

It mainly depends on how accident-prone you are, and where you're gonna be going with it. If you're gonna be using it on a construction site, then obviously go for it. But if it's mainly at home, then don't get it. But as others have said, laptops are still fragile, and it could save you a ton of money in the event of an accident.
