We've lived in 6 states and what sells for a high price in one area sells for 000 in another. Your best bet is just to start out by collecting things that others might be able to use and then seeing how much they are willing to pay. That's how some of our friends over the years have done. When you start getting customers they will tell others and then your customer base starts to grow. Ask everyone you know what they are looking for, try to find it and also ask them what they usually pay for things that would be found in salvage yards. It usually takes a year or two to get started in a venture like that so don't get discouraged.
Prices change all the time. I suggest going to a local salvage yard and talking with the owner, or even working there awhile to learn the ins and outs of the trade.
