Is there an easy way to open the hood of a truck if the latch stops working?

I have a 1999 GMC Yukon. And the latch cable broke. I grabbed the cable itself with a pair of vice grips but it won't budge. Is there a fairly easy way to reach the latch and flip it to open the hood?

I agree. Take it to the repair shop. I had the same problem with my 95 Blazer. Short of removing the grille and trying to reach the hood latch there wouldn't be any other way to open the hood.
