If Brett is not able to play due to his arm injury then say goodbye to pro football and thanks for the memories. If he is physically healthy then GO FOR IT!
Yes he should retire

Though he a great player and one of the best, he should. He has had a great in the nfl but all good things must come to an end. Besides, brett cannot handle the players of this day, its a new era.

yes.

so many athletes use their resignation announcements as fake-out bargaining tools now. sickens me!

these older athletes need to pack it in and let the younger ones have a chance.

ps: note to baseball's Randy Johnson (300 wins) and Jamie Moyer (250) -- now that you have reached your magic wins plateaus -- it's time to give it up and retire (they are the oldest two current players in MLB).

Only Brett Favre can answer that question.

short answer: Definitely.

For him physically, I think he can still be an active leader on a football team (provided they give him a decent offensive line)

Mentally, I don't think he has the capacity to be a champion anymore. This isn't Michael Jordan we're talking about here. His touchdown (pretty high) to interception (also high) have always been suspect. And considering that he's been "thinking" about retirement for the past 5 years, I just don't think he's confident anymore to lead a team into a playoffs, let alone a super bowl.

Long story short: save your limbs, use your head. Please stay retired!
