call 911 and then quietly go and lock your bedroom door if you have a lock. try to move a dresser or something heavy across the door wait for the police to arive
Make sure I left a highly appealing pornography film advertised blatantly in the path of the marauding would-be thief so that he/she exhausts him/herself to the point of not being able to carry out their thievery. And make sure that a warning sort of thing goes on in my room when the TV is used so that I can be notified of the intrusion and summon the coppicemen whilst the marauder(s) is occupied.
This actually happened to a (then pregnant) co-worker and her husband! She woke up and thought she was dreaming...and then the guy was IN her room going thru drawers! CRAZY! She screamed -- waking her husband -- and scaring off the guy. There was another guy downstairs. They took off with computers, phones, etc.
She said she kept their cars in the garage...so it must have seemed like they were out of town. So I think its a good idea to keep some cars in your driveway!
I'd grab my stuff, throw them at the guy and then when he's not paying attention to me (even for a split second), I'd grab my machete and I start chasing him like a maniac.
. . . I've been watching too many movies, but worth it. I did that once and no one has ever tried to come to my house again.
