Perhaps you have seen commercials for the Instyler and I swear by it.
I used to have the Chi and it destroyed my hair but after two weeks with the Instyler my hair was healthy once again
I'm a hair dresser and sware by Chi straightners. I get mine from Sally's. They tend to be a little more expensive, but well worth it! It locks in shine and the style. Humidity? Not a problem with the Chi!
I just ordered an InStyler from this
site for $59.99 and I LOVE IT :)
and it was the cheapest price i have seen :)
Has anyone else Got one for this good of a price?

Chi is the best. If it fried your hair you might want to try using a heat protectant spray before you use any heat styling (like blow dryers or straighteners/flat irons). Tressemme makes a good one and it's pretty inexpensive.

this one is or anything on ulta.com cause they have all the best hair care supplies and tools
The CHI is one the of best ones I know of. My friend is a hairdresser and she swears by it. Maybe your hair was a little damp. I also use some spray to keep it from frying my hair. Hopefully that helps.
I have always thought Chi was the best... I have never heard of it frying anyones hair...thats crazy. Maybe you had it up too hot.. I dunno.. But I have a cheaper one I got from walmart....I think its Conair.. I love it because my hair is thick and takes FOREVER to get completely dry. But this one can be used on wet hair. It has little steam holes on the top. Its really neat. It takes a long time if you start with completely wet hair and try to straighten it and dry it at the same time, but its nice because if its still a little damp when I straighten it I don't have to worry about it frying my hair. I have never had any problems with it and it has lasted a long time. And it was only like $30.
I have the generic Chi. It's the GVP Sally one. Reasonable price and straightens my hair easily. No frying, but use a good heat protector. Nexxus has a good one.
There's a tourmaline straightener you can get at Sally's that rocks. The Paul Mitchell one is great too. For the Chi, you need to use some protecting product on your hair and make sure it's completely dry or it will damage your hair.
