In the manga world, there is a plethora of quality yaoi (Fake, Loveless, etc.), but if you want any quality yuri, you have to search high & low and you'd still only come up with about three or four titles. Why is that?
Most yaoi is done by females, and not to generalize, but females tend to put more of an emotional/introspective/storyline spin onto it. Most yuri is drawn by males and just veers into full-out hentai.
